September 1999 (265K):
Anne paints her potbellied pig's house. We cut wood at the cabin and explore Deep Creek finding a wonderful waterfall. Kaylie discovers yummy "berries" and is caught harvesting them.
After filling our woodshed, we take another expedition to the Deep Creek waterfall. Nickki pushes Kaylie on her new tricycle. Later, we visit mom and dad in Fall City. Dad feeds a hen from his hand and I catch mom and dad visiting the Old Grey Barn. As Anne and Nickki get ready to drive to Salome Arizona, Kaylie wears the headphones and dances to music.
See a map of the route taken by Nickki and Anne as they drive to Salome. It's 1,465 miles. Next, if you love puppies, take a gander at "Mollie Poppins", a picture taken as she awakes from a nap. I also included a picture of Andy at the bakery in Salome. He was complaining that the Salome Bakery page didn't have any pictures of him! And, finally, check out the collage of pictures taken at the Seattle Mariners baseball game.
I caught Rhys and Mollie as they were running ahead of me on our walk. Did they think I was walking too slowly? The page includes a collage of activities and a peek at Gus Gus, Anne's pet guinea pig who has since gone to stay at the Rainbow Bridge. Finally, this page contains two more collages of pictures. One includes Rhys and Mollie doing what they do best - begging for food and the last one is a picture collage capturing a hiking trip to Mt. Rainier.
October 1999:
(PAGE 1)Summer continues in the northwest. Check out the collages which include cats, dogs, fish, a potbellied pig, flowers in bloom and vegetables from our garden. Figaro won pet of the month with an award-winning pose!
(PAGE 2)We check out the new home for The HerbFarm restaurant in Woodinville. I discover an interesting method for carving a pumpkin so that it resembles a face. Nickki and Rick drive non-stop from Salome Arizona. And, I created a collage of pictures from the Halloween visitors.
November 1999:
If you are interested in collages, check out this page. There are seven collages. One captures the White River Cabin Association road clean-up near Huckleberry Creek. Two include our mother's birthday's (including a limosine ride to dinner in Seattle) and the fourth covers a going-away party for Terry and Karen Spencer. Another captures the visit from Scott and Kayrena Betts and our Thanksgiving dinner. The sixth includes photos of Jeanne and Cliff Vandeberg's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. The final collage proves that it is never too late to take the Spirit of Seattle from Renton to Woodinville and back. The dinner train was a gift from Anne, Thomas and Paul for our 25th wedding anniversary - two years ago!
December 1999:
December brings pictures of the birth of Austin, Nickki's second child. Of course I had to include a collage of the best pictures taken of Kaylie this year. And, there is the Christmas madness with celebrations on Christmas eve and Christmas day.
January 2000:
We celebrated the new year with some special friends at the cabin. Chris Reilly and Jim and Marcie Lemon stayed for the evening. Thomas shared a few pictures taken at The HerbFarm Restaurant, capturing the festive atmosphere at the $1,600 per plate dinner! Of course Valorie captured Austin's first bath. Not to be outdone, Kaylie explores the taste of new-fallen snow, pastes stickers on her face, peeks from inside a large cardboard box, wears Valorie's boots, and feasts on cake from Angel's baby shower. Of course I had to include a sneak photo of Anne on her 20th birthday!
February 2000:
Anne celebrated her birthday and had a going-away party. Take a look at Ted's shirt and perhaps visit www.cse.org. And of course, take a look at our family photo. It's not often now that we have everyone in the family together. Can you spot Rhys and Mollie? And, sadly, Anne left us again to visit Salome and help with the bakery. If you're in Salome, stop at the bakery and chat for a bit. It's the only place you can get genuine frog droppings! Of course Kaylie had her second birthday with lots of presents and cake. Bob and Valorie spent every other day on picket duty supporting the SPEEA strike against Boeing. And last, but certainly not least, Angel gave birth to Brittney. And what a proud daddy Robert is!
March 2000:
We visited the cabin for a few hours, taking an extra set of keys to Thomas after he lost his keys skiing at Crystal Mountain. I had to get a picture of the Olympia Beer picture in the guest room. Rhys played wildly with a frisbee and I managed to catch his in all his activities! Bob attended the SPEEA rally at the Mercer Arena in Seattle and caught a picture of the crowd. Paul Herrick organized a dinner get-together which included Randy Russell, Dick Patten, Steve Simeon, Bill Schaffer, and myself. We had a good evening together!
April 2000:
Debra arrives in Washington to live with Nickki. Anne, Nickki and Debra spend time together. Ted and Lola come over for a barbecue. Thomas plays with Kaylie on the trampoline. Ted, Lola, Anne, Valorie and Debra made a trip to the cabin on a sunny weekday afternoon. Thomas celebrated his 25th birthday with a dinner in Issaquah.
May 2000:
Angel visits while learning that Alissa must live with Wade for 90 days. Valorie celebrates her birthday with a dinner at the Keg. Nickki celebrates her birthday with a taco dinner. Bob has his energy sucked out of him by two small dogs. On Mother's day we had a celebration breakfast with Nickki, Kaylie, Austin, Debra, Ted, Lola, and Paul. Paul gave rides on his motorcycle. Vistied mom and dad in Fall City.
June 2000:
Bob, Anne and Paul attend the first annual Washington Brewer's Guild "Summer Microbrew Festival". The weather was warm, the extra beer samples were only $1, and the crowds were small. Father's day brought cloudy weather. Bob got a new hammock and everyone had to try it out. The next weekend, Angel and Robert came to vist along with Alissa and Brittney. Towards the end of the month we were lucky to have warm weather again. Kaylie enjoyed a run through the lawn sprinkler.
July 2000:
Mike Nelson, one of the partners of the Hearthside Cabin Association, turned 50. In celebration of this event, they hosted a birthday party at Cavanaughs in Seattle. They rented the entire 5th floor, had a live jazz band, good wine, wonderful food and dancing until midnight. Paul celebrated his 23 birthday. Scott and Kayrena visited from Utah.
August 2000:
Kim and Rick and their family came for a two-week visit. The weather was nice. Alissa and Emily participated in a boxing match. Nickki donated her long hair so that someone undergoing chemotherapy for cancer could have a real hair wig. We had a fun family gathering, featuring baseball, group pictures and gymnastics on the trampoline.
September 2000:
Labor Day is our traditional day for cutting wood at the cabin. Bob has a new chain saw this year and put it to good use cutting a large blowdown near the cabin. Leo and his friend showed up after the cutting had been done. They also had way too much to drink that evening and were asked to leave the next day. Ted, Lola, Thomas and Valorie visited the Suntop lookout. Bob, Thomas, Ron and Carrie helped Bill and Lola Zimmerman move to the Red Oak Residence in Fall City.
October 2000:
A sunny weekend in October means it is time to hunt for that elusive "perfect" pumpkin. Bob, Anne, Nickki, Debra, Kaylie and Austin made a trip to the pumpkin patch. Of course everyone found pumpkins. At home, Kaylie tries on her princess costume.
November 2000:
Two birthday's for Lola. Anne leaves for Arizona. Paul buys a Subaru and Bob and Val get his pickup truck.
December 2000:
Austin celebrates his first birthday. Debra, Christian, and Alissa travel to Salome for Christmas.
January 2001:
New Year is celebrated at the cabin. Anne gets her hair cut and then leaves for Salome Arizona after celebrating at her "going away" breakfast.
February 2001:
Nickki hosts a birthday party: Kaylie turns 3 and Alissa turns 9.
