The Salome Bakery in Salome Arizona |
This is Rick Betts, my brother-in-law, who is the chief baker at the Salome Bakery. My daughter Anne stands beside him in front of the bakery. The sign for the bakery has a frog catching a doughnut. Salome is known for its frogs and the bakery provides a speciality called "frog droppings" which are available in the winter and spring! |
Before donuts can be made, the dough has to rise! The dough is overflowing the yellow container. Shown here is my niece, Debra, Rick (head baker) and my wife, Valorie. |
In the wee hours of the morning, Rick drizzles the frosting over the apple turnovers using a special arm controlled tool. This specialized tool provides just the right amount of sugar topping in a tantalizing design for the delicious treats! |
By 4 AM, Rick and his son, Scott, have the donuts and bread ready for their customers, along with a fresh pot of hot coffee! |
