In 1947, my father began building
our home in Gold Beach, Oregon. While building the house, my mom and dad
lived in a tent. This picture, taken in 1947, shows that the building site
has been leveled and construction is underway. My father used a garden hose
filled with water to level the area where the Gold Beach home was to be
built. Here he has the floor and one wall erected.
The frame is almost complete in
this 1947 picture of the Gold Beach home.
Tar paper is now on the roof and
most of the outside sheathing is complete. This picture shows the view of
the Rogue River valley.
This picture, taken in 1948, shows
the finished house. My brother is standing near the fireplace
chimney.
